When cutting 40mm thick carbon steel with high-power laser, precise adjustment of cutting parameters is crucial. Jiatai Laser provides a detailed analysis on how to achieve stable and efficient cutting processes through parameter optimization.
Enhancing Cutting Stability with Dual-Nozzle Technology
To ensure the stability of the cutting process, we employ dual-nozzle technology. While single-nozzle technology might offer slightly faster cutting speeds, reaching 0.3-0.4 m/min, the stability of cutting can be compromised when dealing with lower quality carbon steel. Therefore, dual-nozzle technology is a more reliable choice.
Cutting Parameter Settings
① Cutting Speed: With dual-nozzle technology, it is recommended to control the cutting speed at 0.2-0.25 m/min. Although this speed is relatively slow, it ensures the stability and quality of cutting 40mm thick material.
② Nozzle Height: The nozzle height should be set between 0.5-0.8 mm.
③ Gas Pressure Adjustment: Set the gas pressure between 1.1-1.4 bar and make fine adjustments based on the cutting effect. If the cutting edge has large serrations, the gas pressure can be appropriately reduced, but too low a pressure may result in incomplete cutting.
④ Focal Position: With dual-nozzle and auxiliary cooling agents like side-blow, the focal position should generally be stable around 20 mm, with possible variations of 1-2 mm. The specific focal position needs to be adjusted based on the performance of different cutting heads.
- If the focal point is set at 20 mm and the nozzle becomes overheated during the cutting process, the focal point can be adjusted to 19 mm to maintain cutting stability.
- If the nozzle temperature is moderate, the focal position can be raised to 22 mm. A higher focal position can result in a smoother cutting edge, but it is essential to ensure that the focal position is not too high, as this could overheat the nozzle and compromise cutting stability.
By meticulously adjusting the above parameters, efficient and stable cutting of 40mm thick carbon steel can be achieved. In practical operations, it is necessary to make fine adjustments based on the specific equipment and material conditions to achieve the best cutting results. Jiatai Laser looks forward to sharing more professional cutting techniques with you, helping your production and processing reach new heights.
